welcome to the pasta social club newsletter

Hi, I’m Meryl. And I’m so happy you’re here!

For those who don’t know me (yet), I created a platform called Pasta Social Club back in 2018. At the time, I was living in New York City, fresh out of culinary school and a career change (I used to work in corporate PR). Pasta Social Club started as a social media side project that not only became my haven for learning more about making pasta, but it was also a way for me to make new friends.

At the beginning, Pasta Social Club was a supper club, a place where people of all backgrounds came together over a shared love of sauce-slicked carbohydrates. Then those dinners morphed into pasta-making classes where strangers became friends over bottles of wine and the joy of learning something new. Of course, for the past two years those events have lived online—I’ve hosted hundreds of virtual classes and events for couples, families, friends, and colleagues from all over the world (interested? drop me a line!). And outside of those classes, you can find pasta recipes and tutorials on my Instagram page and on Food52.

So, what’s next? Well, I’m putting the finishing touches on my first cookbook, which will debut in fall 2023. Everything I’ve learned and everything I know about pasta is in this book, and I can’t wait to share it with you. I’m also so excited to launch this newsletter. With all of the changes these last two years have brought, my hope here is to return to Pasta Social Club’s roots: to create a community and connect with all of you.

This newsletter is my way of branching beyond social media—to find a more casual setting where we can really talk. If you’re so inclined, paid subscribers will receive:

  • New, exclusive recipes, many of which will include video tutorials so you can feel like we’re making each dish side-by-side.

  • Bonus tidbits about pasta-making techniques, as well as my favorite tools, cookbooks, and other pasta-related things.

  • First access to all pasta social club events and classes—virtual and in-person (yes, in-person events will return!)—as well as cookbook updates & announcements as the fall 2023 publication draws nearer.

And with that: welcome to the Pasta Social Club newsletter! Thank you for being here; your support means so much to me and makes what I do possible.

If you ever have any questions, feedback, tips, your own pasta stories you’d like to share, or just want to say hi, I’d love to hear from you (truly). Comments on my posts are strongly encouraged (I’ll respond to all of them!), and you can also email me at pastasocialclub@gmail.com. :)

A rare photo of me by my dear friend Mackenzie Smith Kelley; the book I’m holding is The Encyclopedia of Pasta by Oretta Zanini de Vita and I’d highly recommend it!
